Since 2020, the live stream from the White Stork (Ciconia ciconia) nest in Tukums Municipality has been provided in cooperation with AS “Sadales tīkls”.

Online observations of the White Stork nest on the Dabasdati portal have been available since 2020; more information on the breeding history can be found here.

Latvia hosts one of the densest White Stork populations in Europe. According to data from the Nature Conservation Agency and AS “Sadales tīkls” (ST), 7,319 stork nests have been recorded on overhead power line poles in recent years. Approximately 80% of Latvia’s White Stork population nests on electricity supply infrastructure; therefore, care for the White Stork is one of AS “Sadales tīkls”’s key corporate social responsibility priorities.

In the first year, breeding was unsuccessful; however, in 2025 three young birds fledged from the nest. In late March, the female from two years earlier, named Mamma, returned to the nest together with a male later named Tio.

In April, as in the previous breeding attempt, five eggs were laid, and all chicks successfully hatched in the second half of May. Three young storks survived and left the nest on 4 August. The last bird observed at the nest was Tio, who departed on 15 August.
