The goal of the rules is to create a friendly, safe and respectful environment where everyone can share thoughts about nature, learn and receive information from the Latvian Fund for Nature live broadcasts.

  1. Bird welfare is our priority

Detailed information about nest and tree locations (e.g. distances, landmarks, camera locations, etc.) is not disclosed in order to protect the birds. Even if this information is known, please do not disclose it. Excessive dissemination of information on the Internet has had tragic consequences for nests in other parts of the world.

  1. Focus on the topic of nature

Comments must be related to the live broadcast, nature and the Latvian Fund for Nature mission (preserving and promoting biodiversity in forests, agro-landscapes, coasts, marshes, seas and freshwaters).

External links (about nature that explain the life and habits of birds) can only be inserted by moderators.

  1. Respect each other

Let’s be kind, respectful and polite to all chat participants.

  1. Prohibited topics and content

This is a public, family-friendly platform. Please avoid:

controversial topics (politics, religion, sports, etc.);

adult content;

personal issues (locations, health issues, etc.).

Not allowed:

offensive language, hate speech, personal attacks, or discriminatory comments;

pornographic or violent content;

intentional disruption of live broadcasts;

dissemination of misleading or knowingly false information about natural facts.

  1. Language

It is permitted to greet in any language; however, responses will be provided in Latvian or English. The primary communication language in this chat is Latvian, and English is also acceptable for international communication. Translation tools will be used when necessary to ensure clear and accurate communication.

  1. Boundaries of free dialogue

Ask questions and comment on the live broadcast respectfully.

Do not use too many capital letters (including nick names) and emoticons (recommended 2- 🙂 🙂

, limit is 4 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 ).

Let others express themselves as well.

Do not repeat the same message several times. If a question remains unanswered, it can be repeated. We recommend using the emoticon ❓ to make the question more visible.

  1. Moderation rules and procedures (may be supplemented)

Anyone who is responsible, calm, and genuinely interested in natural processes can become a moderator in nature live broadcasts. Usually, moderators are people who have participated for a long time and grown into trusted members of the nature community. Among moderators are those who actively participate in the creation of dabasdati.lv forums and look after specific nests or natural objects, providing additional information and helping to maintain the quality of the live broadcast. The moderator must be able to maintain a friendly and respectful atmosphere, while ensuring that discussions remain within the scope of the live broadcast topic. This is a voluntary but very important involvement in observing and educating Latvian Nature processes, which helps the community to follow and understand our nature resources. It is important to be familiar with the live broadcast rules, communicate politely with viewers and respond quickly if inappropriate content appears in the comments.

Thank you for your help!

If you want to become a moderator for a nest or help collect information on dabasdati.lv, write to us: jelena.zukova@ldf.lv

LDF moderators reserve the right to:

Moderation is carried out to ensure a respectful and safe environment for everyone. What else do you think should be included in the rules? Write to us: jelena.zukova@ldf.lv
