Short films about Natura 2000

07.05.2015

Austrian nature protection organisation "Umweltdachverband " has created six short movies about Natura 2000, the EU-wide network of nature protection areas. English subtitles are included to make this information easily understood and accessible to as many people as possible.

The short films tell tales on wide range of topics  - starting from ways to notice and distinguish protected natural values in Natura 2000 territories, to a farmer who makes non-alcoholic beverages out of meadow flowers; it also shows how ornithologists and entrepreneurs work together in a Natura 2000 area, etc. One of the short clips is dedicated to the whole idea of this project, allowing the viewers to see how it was brought to life.

Each about two minute long short film is made to present Natura 2000 territories and the life they host in an interesting, simple and exciting way.

Natura 2000 is a wonderful opportunity to simultaneously protect the nature and develop own business. Austrian nature NGO activists point out that, by creating common understanding about nature protection and facilitating communication between the two sides, Natura 2000 sites can successfully coexist with business interests.

"Umweltdachverband" unites several dozen Austrian nature protection non-governmental organisations, representing a total of approximately 1.3 million members from these organisations.
