International conference "EU Biodiversity strategy implementation"

Under the Latvian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development of Latvia organizes an international Nature conference "EU Biodiversity strategy implementation" on May 26-27. The conference will be held at the National Library of Latvia, Mukusalas Street 3.

Topics covered during the conference are directly related to priorities set in Latvian Presidency's six-month programme - contribution to preparation of EU Biodiversity strategy mid-term report, with special focus on the EU Biodiversity strategy's second target "Maintain and restore the ecosystems and their services" implementation initiatives.

Latvian Fund for Nature in cooperation with European Environmental Bureau organizes non-governmental organisation participation in the conference. In preparation for the conference, we summarize and publish current news related to EU Biodiversity strategy implementation. The news are published on the website of the Latvian Fund for Nature. News archive is available here.

It is estimated the conference will be attended by around 150-200 participants, both public and non-governmental sector, as well as land owner and user organisations from all EU countries. The conference participant structure will ensure a wide transfer of its results at EU level.
